ABOUT KATE BRADBURY

From the Trenches
to Indigo Leadership

I’m an executive coach and former VP of Marketing with over 20 years of experience scaling teams, leading through growth, and driving strategy inside high-pressure corporate environments.

A major chapter of that journey was more than a decade at athenahealth, a $2B healthcare technology leader, where I led marketing business segments and central functions across brand, digital experience, content, creative, and paid media.

Managing through that level of scale gave me a ground-level understanding of how leadership challenges evolve as a company grows. I know what it takes to drive hard business performance when the stakes are high, and I know how easily alignment, trust, and momentum break down when teams are pinned under intense pressure.

Why I Created Indigo Leadership

I started at athenahealth as a senior manager and left as a VP. Along the way, I led teams through two private equity acquisitions, several restructurings and reorgs, and a lot of growth and change. Every one of those challenges stretched me. Each hurdle that looked impossible at the time taught me something about resilience, teamwork, and what people are capable of when they have the right support.

I saw again and again that people are at their very best when they feel empowered, cared for, and psychologically safe. They’re more effective, more resilient, and more willing to go the extra mile for their team AND the business. In short, everyone wins.

All of those lessons shaped the leader I became, and they showed me what I’m meant to do next: help leaders clear the obstacles in their way, inside and out, so they can bring out the best in themselves and everyone around them.

I started Indigo Leadership to give leaders the objective perspective I wished I’d had.

Today, I work with marketing executives and high-growth leadership teams facing complexity, scale, and organizational change. As a Certified Executive Coach through the Center for Executive Coaching, working toward my ACC and PCC credentials from the International Coaching Federation, I combine coaching practice with two decades of real-world leadership experience.

Business Acumen Meets
Genuine Humanity

Leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about having the courage to look at what’s actually getting in the way, tackling difficult conversations head-on, and creating clarity when the path forward isn’t obvious.

People I’ve worked with tend to call me “direct but kind.” I get to the heart of the issue fast and keep us focused on what you’re going to do about it.

“You have incredible business acumen and a highly strategic mind… You’re able to balance all of that to be a kickass businesswoman and you hold humanity at the same time. It is a very rare thing.”
